José Berríos Named Blue Jays’ Opening Day Starter for 2025

This marks Berríos’ third Opening Day start for Toronto in four seasons, as he prepares to face the Orioles on March 27.

The Toronto Blue Jays announced José Berríos as their Opening Day starting pitcher for the 2025 season.
Berríos will take the mound on March 27 at Rogers Centre against the Baltimore Orioles’ Zach Eflin.
This will be Berríos’ third Opening Day start for the Blue Jays and fifth overall in his MLB career, including his time with the Twins.
In 2024, Berríos posted a 16-11 record with a 3.60 ERA over 192 1/3 innings, ranking seventh in total innings pitched across the league.
The Blue Jays have won their last five season openers, including an 8-2 victory in 2024 where Berríos allowed two runs over six innings.
