Julia Helmke Elected as Generalsuperintendent of Evangelical Church in Berlin

Helmke, a theologian and cultural leader, will formally assume her role after a ceremonial church service, succeeding interim leader Carsten Bolz.

Julia Helmke was elected Generalsuperintendent of the Evangelical Church in Berlin, receiving 33 out of 54 votes in the first round of the EKBO election convention.
She will represent Bishop Christian Stäblein in the Berlin district, bringing her expertise in theology and cultural engagement to the role.
Helmke previously served as Secretary General of the German Protestant Kirchentag and currently leads a department in the regional church office in Hanover.
Her formal inauguration will take place during a ceremonial church service, marking the transition from interim leadership under Carsten Bolz.
Helmke is also an honorary professor at Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen, further highlighting her academic and professional contributions to the church.
