K-9 Officer Rocky Injured During Fatal Houston Manhunt

The Belgian Malinois located a fugitive suspected of killing a Brazoria County deputy before being shot twice; the suspect was killed by police.

Deputy Jesus Vargas, a 17-year veteran, was fatally shot while serving a warrant on Robert Lee Davis, a repeat violent offender, in Houston on Wednesday.
A six-hour manhunt ensued, during which K-9 officer Rocky discovered Davis hiding in a dumpster near the original crime scene.
Davis shot Rocky twice, wounding the dog in the neck and snout, before officers returned fire, killing the suspect.
Rocky, an 18-month-old Belgian Malinois with six months of service, was rushed to a veterinary hospital and is in stable condition.
Authorities have praised Rocky for his bravery, crediting the K-9 with saving lives during the operation.
