Karneval Expected to Generate Record €2.1 Billion in Revenue

Economic forecasts predict the 2025 Karneval season will generate at least €2.1 billion in revenue, a notable increase from €1.7 billion the previous year.
The extended 115-day Karneval session, 20 days longer than last year, is a key factor contributing to the higher revenue projections.
Gastronomy is expected to be the largest beneficiary, with estimated earnings of €925 million, followed by retail sales of costumes and sweets at €449 million.
Transportation services, including train tickets and taxis, are projected to bring in €322 million, while hotel bookings account for €240 million.
Hotel prices in Cologne, a Karneval hotspot, have surged by nearly 80% during the main festivities, with average rates for double rooms reaching €105 per night.
