Kashmir Schools Reopen After Extended Winter Break

Students and teachers return to classrooms across the valley following a three-month closure due to winter vacations and inclement weather.

Schools in Kashmir reopened on Friday after nearly three months of winter vacations, which were extended by a week due to fresh snowfall and rains.
The winter vacations began in December 2024, with classes up to 5th grade closing on December 10 and higher grades on December 16.
Students were welcomed back with celebrations, including gifts and recreational activities, to ease their transition into the new academic session.
Education Minister Sakina Itoo extended best wishes to students and teachers, emphasizing collaboration for a successful academic year.
Authorities mandated the installation of CCTV cameras in school buses by March 31 to enhance student safety, with compliance checks starting in April.
