Overview

• The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K has launched inter-zonal district-level sports competitions to foster youth engagement and talent identification in Kashmir.
• Current competitions are underway in Pulwama, Budgam, Anantnag, Shopian, and Kishtwar, featuring diverse disciplines such as chess, kabaddi, badminton, and table tennis for U-14 and U-17 categories.
• In Kishtwar, events led by DYSSO Jaffer Haider Sheikh include athletics, volleyball, yoga, and more, with over 230 participants across multiple zones.
• Anti-drug pledges are integrated into the events across districts to raise awareness about substance abuse among youth participants.
• Notable performances include chess winners in Anantnag and kabaddi tournaments in Shopian, highlighting emerging talent from various zones.
