Kentucky man dies after bee attack while moving potting soil

A 59-year-old Kentucky man died after being attacked by a swarm of bees that emerged from an old bag of potting soil he was moving.
The man was stung multiple times and went into respiratory failure, with attempts at CPR by family unsuccessful.
The incident occurred on the man's porch as he moved the bag, disturbing the hive inside.
Between 2011-2021, over 700 people in the U.S. died from hornet, wasp or bee stings, with most victims being male.
Officials advised avoiding swatting at bees, wearing light colors, and seeking shelter if bees become aggressive.
