Kia Recalls Over 427,000 Telluride Vehicles for Rollaway Risk

The recall affects models from 2020 to some 2024 models due to improper assembly of steering components.

  • Kia is recalling over 427,000 Telluride vehicles across the U.S. due to a risk they could move while in park, affecting models from 2020 to certain 2024 models.
  • The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warns that the intermediate shaft and right front driveshaft may not fully engage because of suspected improper assembly, leading to potential vehicle movement.
  • Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to engage the emergency parking brake before exiting and can have the electronic parking brake software updated and any damaged intermediate shafts replaced free of charge at Kia dealers.
  • The recall comes after Kia America and Hyundai recalled 48,232 vehicles for damaged charging units, highlighting a growing list of recalls across the auto industry.
  • Demand for the Telluride has been high since its launch, making the recall significant for both the company and consumers.
