Kidnapped British Businessman Colin Armstrong Rescued in Ecuador

Nine Arrested in Connection with Kidnapping; British Intelligence Assisted in Investigation

British businessman and former UK honorary consul, Colin Armstrong, was kidnapped from his ranch in Ecuador on Saturday, December 16, 2023, alongside his Colombian partner, Katherine Paola Santos.
The kidnappers, suspected to be from the brutal Ecuadorian gang Los Tiguerones, were disguised as police officers and abducted the couple in Armstrong's own black BMW.
British intelligence services assisted Ecuadorian authorities in the investigation, which led to the arrest of nine individuals connected to the kidnapping.
Armstrong was found safe and healthy on a road in the coastal province of Manabi on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.
Santos was found 24 hours after her abduction when she showed up at Armstrong’s son's home wearing a fake bomb vest, allegedly sent to demand ransom.
