King Charles III and Queen Camilla Unveil Official Coronation Portraits

The portraits, now on display at the National Gallery until June 5, mark a continuation of royal tradition and will join the Royal Collection at Buckingham Palace this summer.

  • The portraits, commissioned shortly after the May 2023 coronation, were unveiled on May 6, 2025, in the Central Hall of the National Gallery in London.
  • King Charles’s portrait, painted by Peter Kuhfeld, depicts him in a blue naval uniform with medals, the Robe of State, and the Imperial State Crown nearby.
  • Queen Camilla’s portrait, created by Paul S. Benney, features her in her coronation dress and Robe of Estate, with her crown placed beside her.
  • Both artists were personally chosen by the King and Queen, continuing their long-standing collaborative relationships with the royal couple.
  • The portraits will remain at the National Gallery until June 5 before being relocated to Buckingham Palace’s Throne Room for public viewing during the summer opening.
