Las Vegas Police Introduce Nation’s First Tesla Cybertruck Fleet

The department received 10 Cybertrucks as a donation, alongside expanded use of drones and advanced crime-solving technology.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) announced the addition of 10 Tesla Cybertrucks to its patrol and SWAT fleets, donated by an anonymous benefactor.
The Cybertrucks, equipped with advanced law enforcement modifications, represent the first such fleet in the United States.
Sheriff Kevin McMahill highlighted the department’s broader technological advancements, including drones with gunshot detection and license plate reading capabilities.
The donation of the Cybertrucks did not impact the department's budget, with speculation linking the gift to venture capitalist Ben Horowitz, though this remains unconfirmed.
The announcement came during the State of the Department address, where Sheriff McMahill also emphasized significant crime reductions and a 95% solve rate for homicides in 2024.
