Lashkar-e-Taiba Leader and Reasi Attack Mastermind Abu Qatal Killed in Pakistan

The wanted terrorist, linked to multiple deadly attacks in India, was reportedly shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Pakistan's Punjab province.

  • Abu Qatal, a key Lashkar-e-Taiba operative and close associate of 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed, was killed in the Dina area of Jhelum district, Pakistan.
  • Qatal was the mastermind behind the 2024 Reasi bus attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which targeted Hindu pilgrims and resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.
  • He was also implicated in the 2023 Rajouri attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, where coordinated assaults killed seven civilians, including children, and injured several others.
  • Indian authorities, including the National Investigation Agency, had charge-sheeted Qatal for his role in recruiting and deploying LeT operatives to target civilians and security forces in India.
  • The circumstances of his death remain unclear, with speculation suggesting internal rivalries within LeT or a targeted operation by intelligence agencies.
