Lawyers Across Uttar Pradesh and Delhi to Boycott Work Over Ghaziabad Court Incident

The boycott is in response to a police baton charge on protesting lawyers, allegedly ordered by a district judge in Ghaziabad.

The Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh and the Coordination Committee of Delhi Bar Associations have called for a statewide boycott on November 4, 2024.
The incident involved a clash between lawyers and police at Ghaziabad district court on October 29, during a protest against District Judge Anil Kumar-X.
The Supreme Court Bar Association has condemned the police action as a violation of rights and the rule of law, demanding an inquiry and dismissals of those involved.
Lawyers have demanded the suspension of the district judge and police officers involved, and compensation for injured advocates.
A five-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident, and a criminal contempt petition is being filed against the district judge.
