LeBron James' Business Partner Admits to Betting on NBA Games

Maverick Carter, during a federal investigation into illegal bookie Wayne Nix, admitted to placing bets on NBA games, but was not the target of the investigation.

Maverick Carter, the business partner and manager of NBA superstar LeBron James, admitted to federal investigators in 2021 that he bet on NBA games through an illegal bookie, Wayne Nix.
Carter reportedly placed bets on approximately 20 football and basketball games over the course of a year, each bet ranging from $5,000 to $10,000.
Carter stated that he could not remember placing any bets on the Los Angeles Lakers, the team James has played for since 2018.
Wayne Nix, the bookie through whom Carter placed his bets, pleaded guilty in 2022 to running a large offshore betting ring.
Carter was not the target of the investigation, was never charged, and was never contacted again on the matter.
