Legendary St. Louis Baseball Writer Rick Hummel Dies at 77
- Rick Hummel, longtime baseball writer for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, died at 77 after a short illness.
- Hummel covered the St. Louis Cardinals for 49 years and 42 consecutive MLB All-Star Games.
- Known as "The Commish," Hummel chronicled three Cardinals World Series wins and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
- Hummel received numerous honors including Sportswriter of the Year and the Baseball Writers’ Association of America's Career Excellence Award.
- Hummel is survived by his wife, three children, step-daughter and five grandchildren.
