Long Island Woman Drowns Saving Dog from River

Catherine Andreau, 62, was found dead hours after jumping into the Connetquot River to rescue her pet.

Andreau jumped into the river around 1:30 a.m. to save her dog that had fallen in.
An Oakdale Yacht Club employee discovered her body at approximately 8 a.m. and called 911.
Andreau was staying on a houseboat along the Connetquot River in Oakdale.
The dog survived and was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment.
The Suffolk County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.
