Long Island Woman Drowns Saving Dog from River
Catherine Andreau, 62, was found dead hours after jumping into the Connetquot River to rescue her pet.
- Andreau jumped into the river around 1:30 a.m. to save her dog that had fallen in.
- An Oakdale Yacht Club employee discovered her body at approximately 8 a.m. and called 911.
- Andreau was staying on a houseboat along the Connetquot River in Oakdale.
- The dog survived and was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment.
- The Suffolk County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.
