Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi Appointed New Chief of Indian Army

Dwivedi, currently the Vice Chief, will replace General Manoj Pande on June 30 after a distinguished 40-year military career.

Lt Gen Dwivedi has held key command roles, including leadership of the Northern Command and 9 Corps.
He has been decorated with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.
Dwivedi has extensive operational experience along the China and Pakistan borders.
He holds advanced degrees in Defence and Management Studies, Strategic Studies, and Military Science.
Dwivedi's appointment follows a one-month extension of General Pande's tenure.
