Lufthansa Ground Staff to Strike at 7 German Airports

The strike, affecting major hubs and 100,000 passengers, demands a 12.5% pay raise.

Ver.di union calls for a 27-hour strike at seven German airports, including Frankfurt and Munich, from 4 a.m. Tuesday to 7:10 a.m. Wednesday.
Around 900 out of 1,000 scheduled flights have been canceled, impacting approximately 100,000 passengers.
The union seeks a 12.5% pay raise and a one-off inflation bonus for 25,000 employees, including check-in, aircraft handling, maintenance, and freight staff.
Lufthansa has countered with a 10% pay rise offer, but negotiations have yet to reach an agreement.
More negotiations are scheduled for Wednesday, following a round of talks on Feb. 12 that produced no agreement.
