Macron Open to Dialogue with Putin for Sustainable Peace

French President maintains readiness to engage if Putin proposes serious steps towards ending Ukraine conflict.

French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his willingness to resume dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an effort to create a sustainable peace between Ukraine and Russia.
Macron and Putin had a good working relationship before the invasion of Ukraine by Russia in February 2022, but their diplomatic and personal links have deteriorated as the war has continued.
Macron has stated that he remains open to dialogue if Putin reaches out to him, reiterating that he has not changed his contact number.
Macron has also indicated that if Putin shows a willingness to engage in dialogue and serious proposals to move forward and emerge from the conflict, France is ready to help.
Putin has stated that there will be no peace until Russia achieves its goals, which he says remain unchanged after nearly two years of fighting.
