Malware in 60 Android apps downloaded over 100M times
- McAfee researchers found 60 Android apps in the Google Play store containing malicious software that collected user data.
- The infected apps were downloaded over 100 million times and collected personal information like installed apps, wifi networks, Bluetooth connections and location.
- The malware, named Goldoson, also committed ad fraud by clicking ads without user consent.
- Google removed apps that didn't comply and updated others, but users should still delete infected apps and update any that remain.
- Three of the most popular infected apps had over 10 million downloads each before removal.
