Man Arrested for Killing and Dismembering Wife in Palghar
Police uncovered the crime two months after the murder through evidence found in a travel bag containing the victim's skull.
- Harish Hippargi, 49, was arrested in Nalasopara for murdering his wife, Utpala Hippargi, in January 2025 following domestic disputes.
- The crime came to light when police discovered Utpala's skull inside a travel bag near Pirkunda Dargah in Virar on March 14, 2025.
- Investigators linked the skull to Utpala using a jewellery pouch found in the bag, which identified her as a customer of a store in West Bengal.
- Hippargi confessed to strangling his wife during an argument, dismembering her body, and disposing of her remains in separate locations.
- Authorities are continuing their investigation to recover the rest of Utpala's remains and build a case against Hippargi.
