Man Arrested for Taking Gun from Scene of Fatal Philadelphia Police Shooting

  • The shooting occurred on Jan. 26 when two officers approached a group of men inside the store during a routine patrol.
  • 28-year-old Alexander Spencer fired a shot that hit an officer in the leg, prompting the other officer to return fire, wounding Spencer, who was later pronounced dead.
  • Quinones-Mendez is seen on video recording the scuffle with a cellphone, grabbing the gun that slid away during the scuffle, and fleeing the store.
  • Quinones-Mendez faces charges of tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice, and a weapon offense.
