Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Officer Stabbed in High-Security Prison

David Taylor, 62, allegedly attacked a Greater Manchester Police detective at HMP Frankland; the officer is now recovering at home.

The stabbing occurred on July 23 at HMP Frankland, a high-security prison in Durham.
The officer suffered a single stab wound to the chest and was hospitalized with critical injuries.
David Taylor, formerly of Willington, County Durham, has been remanded in custody.
Taylor is scheduled to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on September 3.
Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood described the incident as 'deeply concerning.'
