Heidi Firkus was found dead from a gunshot wound in their Minnesota home in 2010.
Nick Firkus maintained his innocence for years, claiming a mysterious intruder killed her, but investigators found evidence he lied and had financial troubles.
Nick Firkus was sentenced to life in prison without parole for his conviction of first and second degree murder.
The case will be featured on an episode of "20/20" airing this week.
