Man Jailed for Stealing £600,000 from Elderly Aunt

David Eggleton used his power of attorney to siphon funds for personal luxuries, leaving his aunt unable to pay care home fees.

Eggleton, 71, transferred large sums from his aunt's account for cars, holidays, and a Bitcoin machine.
The fraud, spanning from 2018 to 2020, was uncovered when care home payments bounced.
Despite his aunt revoking his financial control, Eggleton continued to withdraw money.
He was convicted of fraud and perverting the course of justice, receiving a five-and-a-half-year sentence.
A Proceeds of Crime Act hearing is scheduled to recover the stolen money.
