Man Sentenced to Year in Prison for Threatening Merriam-Webster Over Gender Definitions

Jeremy Hanson was sentenced to a year in prison for sending threats to Merriam-Webster related to the dictionary's gender definitions.
Hanson also threatened the University of North Texas president and other organizations over LGBTQ issues.
Hanson's sentence includes home confinement, probation, and mental health treatment in addition to prison time.
Prosecutors wanted 18 months in prison while Hanson's lawyer asked for time served.
The judge noted Hanson's medical history but called his actions "disturbing and terrifying."
