Liverpool Football Club has condemned the incident and vowed to issue bans to those identified as having thrown missiles.
The incident was captured on video and is being investigated by Merseyside Police.
This is not the first instance of such an incident, with Manchester City's bus having been targeted in the past.
Liverpool's own bus was also attacked after their 4-1 loss at Manchester City in April.
