March Social Security Payments Begin Distribution This Week

Payments of up to $5,108 will be sent to eligible retirees based on birth dates, starting with initial groups on March 12.

Social Security payments for March will be distributed in three waves, starting March 12 for retirees born on or before the 10th of the month.
Retirees born between the 11th and 20th will receive payments on March 19, while those born on or after the 21st will get theirs on March 26.
The maximum monthly benefit for retirees who delay retirement until age 70 is $5,108, while those retiring at age 62 can receive up to $2,831.
Eligibility for Social Security requires being aged 62 or older and having worked and paid Social Security taxes for at least 10 years.
Analysts warn that Social Security payments could be reduced by 2034 without legislative action, due to a rising retiree population and fewer workers contributing to the system.
