The wax figure is part of the museum's Seasons of New York City exhibit, featuring a snowy backdrop with nods to Carey's personal life, including her Jack Russell Terriers.
Carey expressed her amazement at the lifelike quality of the figure, which took 20 artists nine months to create, with each hair painstakingly applied.
The singer's twins, Monroe and Moroccan, were also present at the unveiling, with Moroccan noting the figure's mirror-like resemblance to Carey.
Carey is also set to embark on a Christmas Time tour, celebrating 30 years since her first holiday album, starting November 6 in California.
