Mariners and Padres Launch Annual Vedder Cup Rivalry Series
The MLB series will honor Eddie Vedder’s ties to Seattle and San Diego while supporting research for a rare skin disorder.
- The Vedder Cup, named after Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, will be awarded annually to the winner of the six-game series between the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres.
- The trophy, featuring a guitar provided by Vedder, celebrates his personal connection to both cities—his childhood in San Diego and his musical success in Seattle.
- The series will support the EB Research Partnership, a nonprofit co-founded by Eddie and Jill Vedder, which funds research for Epidermolysis Bullosa, a rare skin condition.
- This year’s games will take place May 16-18 in San Diego and August 25-27 in Seattle, with themed events and merchandise available for fans at both locations.
- If the series ends in a tie, the winner will be determined by run differential, and if still tied, the team with the highest exit velocity on a hit will claim the trophy.
