Massive Fire Destroys Historic Oakland Lumber Yard

Over 75 firefighters battled the four-alarm blaze at Economy Lumber, which has been in business since 1935.

The fire started around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday and was contained by 11 p.m. the same night.
No injuries were reported, but residents were advised to stay indoors due to smoke.
The fire halted rail traffic on adjacent tracks and required heavy equipment to access hot spots.
Economy Lumber's 750 High Street location was used for storage and as a showroom.
Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
