Melanie Lynskey initially turned down 'Buffy' role over TV hesitation, praises Alyson Hannigan's performance

Melanie Lynskey was approached for the role of Willow in Buffy the Vampire Slayer but initially declined due to visa issues and not being "super into" TV.
Lynskey's agent at the time discouraged her from taking a TV role because of perceptions about television versus film.
After the Buffy pilot was shot, Lynskey later auditioned for the role but it ultimately went to Alyson Hannigan.
Despite not getting the part, Lynskey holds no ill will and praises Hannigan's performance as Willow over the show's seven seasons.
Since passing on Buffy early in her career, Lynskey has gone on to find success in various TV shows and earn award nominations.
