Meta Set to Launch Threads in Europe

The social media app's expansion could add 40 million users in 2024, with new features introduced to comply with EU regulations.

Meta is reportedly preparing to launch its social media app Threads in Europe in December, expanding its reach beyond its current 73 million global users.
To comply with EU regulations, European users may be able to use Threads in a 'view-only' mode without creating a profile, a feature not previously available.
Meta has also introduced the ability for users to delete their Threads accounts without deleting their associated Instagram accounts.
Tech analyst Debra Aho Williamson estimates that the European launch could add an additional 40 million monthly users to Threads in 2024.
Despite the new launch, it remains unclear how Meta will build an algorithmic feed for users without a profile, and whether they will be able to follow other profiles.
