Mets release minor leaguer under MLB investigation for assaulting ex-girlfriend

Minor-league outfielder Khalil Lee has been released by the Triple-A Syracuse Mets.
Lee was accused of physical and verbal abuse by his ex-girlfriend and was subsequently removed from the New York Mets’ 40-man roster.
Syracuse police issued a warrant for Lee on the charge of criminal obstruction of breath in August.
Major League Baseball opened an investigation into the allegations following the filing of the lawsuit.
The Mets released 24-year-old outfielder Khalil Lee on Sunday.
