Mets to retire numbers of Strawberry, Gooden next season

The Mets will retire the jersey numbers of former stars Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry next season.
Gooden and Strawberry were key members of the Mets' 1986 World Series championship team.
Strawberry hit 252 home runs for the Mets, still a franchise record, while Gooden won the Cy Young Award in 1985.
The retired numbers will be the 6th and 7th in Mets history.
Specific dates for the number retirement ceremonies have not yet been announced.
