The Mexican government is finalizing an app called 'Alert Button' to assist migrants who fear imminent detention in the U.S.
The app will notify the nearest Mexican consulate, designated family members, and Mexico's Foreign Affairs Ministry in emergency situations.
This initiative is part of Mexico's broader measures to protect its nationals ahead of President-elect Donald Trump's promised mass deportations starting January 20.
The app has undergone small-scale testing and is expected to be operational by January, with additional legal and consular support programs already in place.
Mexico is also coordinating with other Central American nations and increasing its presence in U.S. detention centers to ensure due process for migrants.
