Microsoft Resolves Windows Update Bug That Uninstalled Copilot App

The issue, affecting some Windows 10 and 11 devices, has been fixed, and systems are being restored to their original state.

A March 2025 Windows update caused the unintended uninstallation and unpinning of the Copilot app from some devices.
Microsoft has implemented a fix, with affected systems being returned to their original state automatically.
Users who prefer not to wait for the automatic fix can manually reinstall the Copilot app from the Microsoft Store and pin it back to the taskbar.
The bug impacted devices running the KB5053598 (Windows 24H2) and KB5053606 (Windows 10 22H2) updates but did not affect the Microsoft 365 Copilot app.
Microsoft has not yet explained why the Copilot app was removed during the update process, continuing a pattern of technical challenges for the app since its 2023 introduction.
