Migos members Offset and Quavo honored their late bandmate Takeoff on the one-year anniversary of his fatal shooting, both sharing emotionally charged tributes on their Instagram accounts.
Takeoff, whose real name was Kirshnik Khari Ball, was shot outside a Houston bowling alley during a private event. Authorities determined he was an innocent bystander, and his death was declared a homicide.
Patrick Xavier Clark, a Houston-area DJ and nightclub promoter, was indicted and charged in the fatal shooting of Takeoff. Clark maintains his innocence and claims he was acting in self-defense.
Quavo, who is Takeoff's uncle, has used his grief to advocate for gun reform. He has met with Vice President Kamala Harris and participated on a Congressional Black Caucus panel on gun violence.
Following Takeoff's death, the Migos group disbanded, with Quavo and Offset frequently paying tribute to their late bandmate. Quavo was reported to be working on a posthumous Takeoff album.
