Minneapolis Man Charged with Attempting to Support ISIS

Abdisatar Ahmed Hassan, 22, allegedly tried to join the terrorist group and publicly expressed support for its activities online.

Abdisatar Ahmed Hassan, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Minneapolis, was charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS.
Hassan reportedly attempted to travel to Somalia twice in December 2024 to join ISIS but was unsuccessful due to incomplete travel documents.
Investigators allege Hassan praised the New Orleans terrorist attack perpetrator on social media and posted videos with ISIS propaganda, including driving with an ISIS flag and an open knife.
The FBI's investigation revealed Hassan's connections to ISIS-affiliated social media accounts and propaganda promoting recruitment.
Hassan is being held in custody pending a detention hearing scheduled for March 5, 2025, in U.S. District Court in St. Paul, Minnesota.
