Mirra Andreeva Wins Indian Wells, Climbs to No. 6 in WTA Rankings

The 17-year-old Russian defeated world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the final, securing her second consecutive WTA 1000 title.

  • Mirra Andreeva, 17, triumphed over Aryna Sabalenka (2-6, 6-4, 6-3) in the Indian Wells final, marking her second straight WTA 1000 title after her February win in Dubai.
  • With this victory, Andreeva rises five spots in the WTA rankings, reaching a career-high No. 6, making her one of the youngest players to achieve this milestone.
  • Andreeva is now the third-youngest woman to win Indian Wells, following Martina Hingis and Serena Williams, both of whom achieved the feat at age 17.
  • Aryna Sabalenka, still ranked No. 1 in the WTA standings, was undefeated in sets during the tournament prior to the final but fell short of claiming her first Indian Wells title.
  • The updated WTA rankings show continued dominance by American players, with Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and Madison Keys occupying three of the top five spots.
