Missing Girl Found Safe Six Years After Alleged Abduction By Mother

Kayla Unbehaun, 15, was located by police in Asheville, North Carolina, after someone recognized her from an episode of Netflix’s “Unsolved Mysteries.”
Kayla was allegedly abducted in 2017 at age 9 by her non-custodial mother, Heather Unbehaun, during a visitation.
Heather Unbehaun was arrested and faces charges of child abduction; she is being held on $250,000 bond awaiting extradition to Illinois.
Kayla has been reunited with her father, Ryan Iskerka, who has full custody and has campaigned to find his daughter over the years.
The tip that led to Kayla’s recovery came from an observant store owner who recognized the pair and alerted authorities.
