Preliminary Investigation Suggests She Accidentally Drove into the Pond on Her Way to a Holiday Party

17-year-old Brissa Romero's body has been officially identified in a retention pond in Illinois.
Romero, a recent high school graduate studying to become an ultrasound technician, disappeared on her way to a holiday work party on December 4.
Her vehicle, a 2008 Nissan Rogue, was found in the same pond the day before her body was discovered.
Police believe Romero accidentally drove into the pond after failing to navigate a T-intersection.
The preliminary autopsy indicates no significant injuries and that Romero’s death is consistent with drowning.
