Mississippi Medical Helicopter Crash Claims Three Lives

A pilot and two healthcare workers died when their AirCare helicopter crashed in a rural area during a return flight from a patient transport.

The crash occurred on Monday, March 10, in a wooded area of Madison County, Mississippi, near the Natchez Trace Parkway.
The victims were identified as pilot Cal Wesolowski, 62, and healthcare workers Dustin Pope, 35, and Jakob Kindt, 37.
The helicopter, a Eurocopter EC-135, was returning to its base in Columbus after a patient transport and had no patients on board.
Preliminary reports suggest the crew reported technical issues and attempted an emergency landing before losing communication with air traffic control.
The FAA and NTSB are investigating the incident, with initial findings expected within 30 days and a full report to follow in 12 to 24 months.
