  • The India Meteorological Department issued orange and yellow alerts for June 4 across Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Mumbai and other regions, forecasting heavy to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds.
  • Northeastern states including Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram remain under relentless downpours that have triggered flash floods, landslides, at least 47 deaths and the displacement of over 630,000 people.
  • Delhi is expected to see light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and gusts up to 60 km/h on June 4, while Mumbai faces partly cloudy skies with scattered light to moderate showers.
  • An orange alert in Himachal Pradesh covers districts such as Kullu, Mandi and Shimla, warning of heavy rains accompanied by lightning and strong surface winds.
  • Seasonal monsoon rainfall is projected at 106% of the long-period average through September, although south Bengal’s monsoon onset is now expected around June 12.
