Mother-Daughter Duo Arrested in Kolkata for Attempting to Dump Dismembered Body in River

The women were caught by locals near the Kumartuli Ghat while attempting to dispose of a trolley bag containing a headless and dismembered body.

Two women, identified as Falguni Ghosh and Aarati Ghosh, were apprehended in Kolkata while trying to dump a trolley bag containing a dismembered and headless body into the Hooghly River.
The body, believed to be that of Sumita Ghosh, a relative of the accused, was found chopped into multiple pieces inside the bag.
Locals grew suspicious when the women struggled to carry the heavy bag and initially claimed it contained the carcass of a pet dog.
Police investigations revealed that the women had traveled from Madhyamgram to Kumartuli by cab, after reportedly first visiting another ghat in the city.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the motive behind the crime and the circumstances surrounding the victim's death.
