Nathan Fillion will debut as Guy Gardner, a Green Lantern, in James Gunn's Superman, set to release on July 11, 2025, before reprising the role in HBO's Lanterns series.
Lanterns will follow Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) as they investigate a murder in the American heartland, with Gardner adding a complex dynamic to the team.
The series adopts a darker, True Detective-inspired tone, contrasting with the lighter approach of Superman, as part of the broader thematic diversity in the DC Universe reboot.
Production on Lanterns began in February 2025, with Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King leading its development, and Mundy serving as showrunner.
