NBC News Cuts Ties with Arrested Palestinian Journalist

Marwat Al-Azza, arrested by Israeli authorities for alleged incitement of terrorism, will no longer contribute to NBC's coverage.

NBC News has severed ties with Palestinian freelance journalist Marwat Al-Azza, who was recently arrested by Israeli authorities on suspicion of inciting terrorism and identifying with a terrorist organization.
Al-Azza's arrest was in response to her social media posts about the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas, which Israeli authorities described as glorifying the attacks and inciting terrorism.
NBC News stated that the investigation into Al-Azza's posts is unrelated to her work for the network, and that they were unaware of the posts when they engaged her as a freelancer.
Al-Azza's arrest comes amid increased scrutiny of Western news organizations' hiring of Palestinian journalists for coverage of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
Al-Azza fully cooperated with the authorities during her arrest and admitted that the posts were accurately attributed to her.
