Nebraska Mother Arrested for Leaving Baby in Hot Car While Horse Riding

The infant, found by a roping contestant, was unharmed and is now in state custody.

Cara Dugan, 40, left her 3-month-old baby in a pickup truck at the Merrick County Fairgrounds.
Temperatures reached 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and the baby was found after passers-by heard crying.
Edgar Estrada, a roping contestant, located the baby and helped rescue it from the vehicle.
Dugan has been charged with felony child abuse and is currently in Merrick County Jail.
The baby was taken to a hospital for evaluation and placed with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
