District Judge Erika Ballou is facing disciplinary charges for two social media posts that allegedly violated Nevada's judicial conduct rule.
One post was a selfie taken at a music festival, with a caption complaining about her early work schedule the next day, and the other was a photo of Ballou in a hot tub with two public defenders.
The Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline claims these posts breached multiple codes of conduct, including rules stating that judges must uphold public trust and avoid giving the impression of favoritism.
Ballou, who took office in January 2021, has been accused of making anti-police statements in the past, leading to calls for her resignation.
Before a hearing is set, Ballou will have the opportunity to address the accusations and has the option to appeal the decision.
