NIA Charges Four in Chandigarh Grenade Attack Linked to Khalistani Terror Network
The chargesheet names Pakistan-based Harwinder Singh Rinda and US-based Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia as key orchestrators of the September 2024 attack targeting a retired Punjab Police officer.
- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against four individuals, including two international handlers, for their roles in the September 2024 grenade attack in Chandigarh.
- The attack targeted a house believed to be occupied by a retired Punjab Police officer and was carried out by local operatives Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih under direct instructions from Rinda and Passia.
- Rinda and Passia provided logistical support, funds, weapons, and ammunition for the attack, which was part of a broader Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) conspiracy to promote their pro-Khalistan agenda.
- The chargesheet invokes multiple sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Explosive Substances Act, and other legal provisions against the accused.
- The investigation is ongoing as the NIA works to identify and dismantle other elements of the BKI network operating in India.
